Ok so last week or the week before I attended a wedding at a Sunday worshipping church. Now I don't know if any of you celebrate Halloween or not that's all on you, but I personally don't. And I had a problem with this, at the church they had advertising a "Holyween" party. Now I'm thinking is this supposed to be some God focused type thing? Because the root word Hallow too means Holy so what are you changing? I just felt like they were changing it because they were a church and they were making it sound more "religious" and better than to actually be celebrating "halloween". But how do you guys feels about them changing it to Holyween at a church? Do you think that churches like ours should have something called a Holyween party and we celebrate it?

I dont think it is a very good idea because, what exactly will be celebrated in the 'Holyween' party? It is just a renditon of Halloween so practically means the same thing and i dont think you can mix the two becaus they are contradicting aspects. To my knowledge Halloween is actually 'All Saints Day' (correct me if i am wrong) which is a celebration of the dead so people dress up as zombies and there is this ghoulish aspect to it. This my view on it. :)

I agree. When I saw it I'm like this makes no sense..that's why people should try to understand and know the history behind certain things before they do things like that.

Well if it's on the same night and if it involves candy and costumes then yeah, it's the same thing as Halloween. But if it was on a different day I don't see the problem, as long as the costumes aren't Too gory or too sexy.

What exactly did they do for "Holyween"? For all we know they just had a Bible study and ate raisins.

It was a party and drive to collect candy and give it out.
