Was that picture really in a Magazine? Seems too ridiculous to be true.

that's really interesting how the media not only makes women feel insecure about their looks when compared to "perfect" women, but even photoshops them to do it!

Is there such a thing as perfect size? To me once you're fit and comfortable as you are that's what matters. Of course there would be sometimes that you want to loose weight or gain weight but once it's not to the extreme you are normal. In that v...

JUST for the record. The model doesn't look like that in real life, and she sued her agency for photoshopping her that badly, because she thinks it makes her head look big. But true. I'm too lazy to try and be beautiful, its much easier to kick ba...

Wow! We think that these women actually look like the finished product. I will definitely try much harder to raise my self esteem.

About Me:
My name is Kara Norman and I am a mother of two girls, ages 10 and 5. I've been married for 11 years to my wonderful husband. We live in the Atlanta area. I have longed to live a more fulfilling life in which I was able to work with women and teen girls. Recently I partnered with a friend of mine and we are launching an empowerment group for pre-teens and teen girls in the Atlanta area called Jewels (www.jewelsgirl.com). I also serve as a leader/moderator for EMGirls an empowerment online social network/community for teen girls ages 12-18 (www.emwomen.ning.com/group/emgirls) part of EMWomen. I know that with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! GOD BLESS!

EMGirls~Empowering Girls - New Online Social Network for Teen Girls Ages 13-18

EMpowering Girls Group

EMgirls is a place where you can build lasting relationships with other girls focused on something more than the latest fashion, or the latest boy band. While other girls are wishing for their dreams to happen, EMgirls is helping girls make things happen in their families, communities, and the world. If you thought Facebook or MySpace were cool, this group will rock your world and be a safe place for you to find answers to life's tough questions.

As an EMgirl, you have so many opportunities to live a unique life of leadership and purpose. Life is what you make of it and you are in an amazing group that can help you learn to make the most of life and give back to your community.

Stay tuned, as we are developing amazing leadership development programs just for girls. We will have our own EMgirl EMbassador Program and calls tailored to girls with a passion to be better, live healthier, and to change their world. We are also going to be launching EMgirl Power Circles real soon, where you and your friends can get together once a month to discuss how you can make a difference in your schools, families, community, and in the world.

Invite your friends or girls you know to join and start connecting with other girls from around the world who share in your passion to be different. Start a discussion, offer help to others, and let's have fun!. Tell us what you think about our new group and how we can make it a fun place to grow together.

Kara Norman, the moderator of the EMgirls Group, comes to our team with an amazing passion for educating, motivating, and inspiring young women to step beyond their limitations into a life of greatness. Her experience and life-story qualify her, not only as a woman of great leadership, but as a "girl" who can relate to the struggles so many young women face today. Check out her full bio and passion for girls in the discussion "Kara Cares" on EMGirls website.

We encourage you to invite your friends to the EMgirls group and begin using your "online" time to make friends that make a difference!

You can find EMGirls on the Groups Section on EM Women or forward our link on the web:

Today's Perception Of Beauty ~ Let's Change It!

Magazine Ad from Ralph Lauren

Take a good look at this photo from a Ralph Lauren ad. What do you think about the model in this ad? I was shocked and horrified that such a leading fashion designer would think that this ad is appealing to a woman/girl and would make her want to go out and buy this outfit! Is this what our society… Continue

Be The Change You Wish To See In The World!

One of my favorite quotes is by Mahatma Gandhi which says “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. As a young girl and teen I struggled with feeling good about myself. I never tried new things or was the popular girl in school. I never believed in myself or my abilities. I carried all of these f… Continue

Love Shouldn't Hurt!

I am shocked and horrifed about the allegations that Chris Brown, a famous R&B Singer, was arrested for domestic violence against a female/his girlfriend Rhianna. As a mom, Chris Brown was one of the few singers that I felt had a pretty positive message compared to… Continue

Anything Is Possible!! - My thoughts on Obama being elected President!

Written the night that Barack Obama won the presidential election Nov 4th, 2008

As the tears on my face dry up, I'm so in awe of this special night, a night where America has chosen the very 1st African American President of the United States of America! As I watched and filmed this historic event, I wanted to capture and hold onto every moment of the experience. Something so truly amazing to witness and to be able to share with my 10 year old daughter. The message that she is receiving… Continue

My Grandmother~Truly An Empowering Woman!

I was reading through my post in reply to Staci’s Wallace’s (Founder of Empowering Women's website) blog “Beyond the Vote” about what we are to do after Barack Obama's election to move into a place of action, and how I wrote about my Grandmother who was 83 and witnessed his election just two day prior, I am in tears. Just three days after Barack Obama was elected President, she was airlifted to a hospital in Atlanta and was placed on a ventilator after suffering not one but three brain aneurysms… Continue

no prob, yeah, i made one of those EM girls page...but i guess it wasn't my type of thing. i guess that it was because there were hardly any teens my age that i could u know-----connect with. everyone/most of everyone is way into their years. but if there were more teens, then yeah it would most def be the thing that i would be interested in....but yeah. hahaha, but otherwise i think that it would be cool for others who like it for what it is. but i think that its missing some character ya know? like a backbone of some sort... something to really hook teens.
